Live Online Safety Training
for Nonprofit Teams
501Secure Live Online Safety Training equips nonprofit teams with the knowledge and confidence to navigate their remote work environment safely. Each interactive training is specifically designed for a nonprofit audience and is tailored to your organization's unique risks, technology, and specific challenges.
Beyond just sharing information, we create a safe and engaging space for your team to ask questions, discuss concerns, and significantly boost their awareness of online safety risks and best practices. Our trainings are designed to be informal and accessible while facilitating relevant knowledge transfer for adult learners.
Each live session is complemented by a self-paced 60-minute companion tutorial. The self-paced tutorial is available for 60 days after the live session. Staff will receive periodic reminders for unfinished training. Upon completion, you'll receive a completion report to track your team's participation.
Our Training Philosophy
We believe in a holistic approach to cybersecurity awareness. While training is a foundational component, it's important to understand its role within a broader security strategy.
Here are a few caveats to keep in mind:
-
To be effective, training must be viewed as one aspect of a comprehensive strategy that includes policies, technology, process controls, and accountability.
-
Given that human error is inevitable, accidents happen, and no program of security can ensure zero risk. A well-thought out and rehearsed incident response plan is also essential. A response plan (and training on how to use it) will ensure access to important data, business communications, and essential processes in the event that a cyber incident occurs.
-
Each person learns differently, information retention will vary by individual. It is important to repeat important messages often, including regular intervals of refresher training throughout the year.
-
Organizational culture and resource constraints also play a part in security strategy. How seriously staff takes training depends on existing culture and cues from leadership.
-
To truly build a resilient culture of security it must be championed by leadership, regularly discussed at meetings, and integrated into daily processes and into measures of accountability.
Training is an essential first step toward improving security when it is implemented in the wider context of an overall security program. We can help you with mapping out what this looks like for your organization and team.
